If you’ve been keeping up with my reviews, then you know that I place a lot of importance on a good vitamin C serum. Not only can it totally change the appearance of your skin, but it is extremely helpful in healing damage created by sun exposure. I’ve been searching for a serum that has the right texture (i.e. watery and sinks into my skin immediately) and gives a good glow. Guys, I’ve found it. COSRX Triple Lightning Liquid delivers!

COSRX Triple C Lightening Liquid Review

Triple C is a collaboration between Charlotte Cho, one of the co-founders of Soko Glam, and COSRX. When it was first introduced, the hype around it was so strong that it sold out within hours upon its release! It remains an extremely popular product, with good reason.

Ingredients

The ingredients list is quite short: Aronia Melanocarpa fruit extract (Black Chokeberry), Ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), Butylene glycol, Sodium lactate, Licorice root extract, 1,2- Hexanediol, Pullulan, Sodium hyaluronate, Cassia obtusifolia seed extract, Allantoin

According to Soko Glam’s website, this serum contains 72% black chokeberry extract. Its purpose is to stabilize the high percentage of vitamin C (20.5%), so that one’s skin remains hydrated. Black chokeberry extract is a significant source of antioxidant polyphenols. The vitamin C comes in the form of ascorbic acid, which is my favorite! I generally find it to be the most effective.  Licorice root extract is an extremely useful ingredient, as it is anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and can brighten the skin. Both vitamin C and licorice root are good for fading pigmentation! Cassia obtusifolia seed extract helps hydrate, and allantoin is an ingredient typically used for its ability to soothe skin.

Usage

This serum is wonderfully watery, and it soaks into your skin almost immediately. There is practically no smell to it at all, but if you inhale deeply you get a sort of tangy/sour scent. The directions say to use 2-3 drops at a time, but honestly I tend to use a whole dropper full. If you are new to vitamin C, you might want to stick with the directions to make sure you don’t irritate your skin. I didn’t have any purging with this, most likely because I’ve been using vitamin C serums for a while now. I’ve been using my current bottle for over two months, and I suspect I will get another couple of weeks worth of product out of it. I’m not sure if I would want to make it last much longer than that, as I’ve noticed some oxidation happening. If it were kept in the fridge this process could most likely be slowed down! But honestly, I don’t have the patience to be walking out to the kitchen in the middle of my skincare routine.

Results

I’m blown away by how much this serum has changed the appearance of my skin. Initially when I apply it, it gives my skin this fantastic glow! While I love the immediate results, I am incredibly impressed with the more long term effects. I had some acne scars in my chin area that have disappeared, which is exciting. I also noticed a difference in some sun spots that had not previously responded to any other vitamin C serum that I had used. They have visibly lightened over the course of these two months!

COSRX and Charlotte Cho have absolutely knocked it out of the park with this vitamin C serum! I would enthusiastically recommend this to anyone who is looking for a way to fade pigmentation or scars. It is a great step towards maintaining healthy skin, and at only $27 for a 30 ml bottle, it is a fantastic deal! Triple C Lightning Liquid has cemented its place in my routine for the foreseeable future.
