iUNIK is a brand that continually impresses me. First I fell in love with their Centella Calming Gel Cream, which is the perfect gel moisturizer for my skin. I now have another iUNIK regular in my skin routine, and it is the iUNIK Propolis Vitamin Synergy Serum. Quite the mouthful, right? The two main ingredients, propolis and sea buckthorn fruit extract (full of vitamins!), lend themselves to the wordy name. Let’s dive into the other elements that make up this lovely serum!

Ingredients

The ingredients are as follows:

Propolis Extract, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Fruit Extract, Water, Butylene Glycol, Glycerin, Methylpropanediol, Niacinamide, Dipropylene Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Flower Water, Sodium Hyaluronate, Betaine, Glycosyl Trehalose, Honey Extract, Beta-Glucan, Hydrogenated Starch Hydrolysate, Allantoin, Carbomer, Arginine, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Adenosine, Dipotassium Glycyrrhizate, Pentylene Glycol, Citrus Aurantium Bergamia (Bergamot) Fruit Oil, Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola) Extract, Portulaca Oleracea (Green Purslane) Extract, Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) Extract, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Extract, Ficus Carica (Fig) Fruit Extract, Morus Alba (White Mulberry) Fruit Extract, Ginkgo Biloba (Maidenhair Tree) Nut Extract, Caprylyl Glycol

First there is the aforementioned propolis, which accounts for 70% of this formula. Propolis is a resin-like mixture that bees produce using their saliva and sap from trees. They use the resulting product to seal holes in their hives. It has been used for thousands of years to aid in wound healing, and today it is used in skincare to help calm and protect the skin!

The other major ingredient, sea buckthorn fruit extract, is a powerhouse that brings several nutrients to the table! It is known for being extremely high in vitamin C, and it also is rich in vitamin E and vitamin K. These vitamins serve to brighten skin without irritating it.

You will notice that honey extract is in the ingredients, and like its compatriot propolis, it helps heal and rejuvenate the skin. Another plus: honey can moisturize and add radiance to dull skin!

Usage

iUNIK Propolis Vitamin Synergy Serum Review This is a thicker serum, and initially upon patting it onto my skin I found it to be fairly sticky. It almost feels like you are putting honey on your face! I was concerned that I might end up with a lot of sticky shininess at the end of my routine, but after putting on my moisturizer my skin looked as it normally would! There is almost no detectable scent; at the most there is an extremely faint honey smell. Overall it is pleasant and easy to use!

Results

Iunik Propolis Vitamin Synergy Serum ReviewI’ve been using this after my actives (vitamin C and retinol) in the morning and evening for the last several weeks. It is a soothing layer that I especially appreciate right now in the winter. I think in the summer I might reach for something lighter, but currently I’m enjoying the extra protection that I get from applying this under my moisturizer.

You can find this serum for $16 on YesStyle, but they frequently run sales, so you could possibly catch it for less! For 50ml I feel this is an affordable product. I don’t know if I would repurchase it again straight away, as I have so many other iUNIK products that I want to try! I would still recommend it if you are searching for a soothing product to help get your skin through winter.
