CBD has skyrocketed in popularity over the last several years. You can find it in a huge variety of products, including tinctures, gummies, skincare, patches, bath soaks, and more. One of the most popular companies making use of CBD is Not Pot. Not Pot has been selling vegan CBD gummies in a host of flavors since 2018. I first saw their products as the news spread over Instagram, and I was intrigued. I had heard about CBD’s calming effects for those with anxiety issues, and as someone who often deals with high levels of anxiety, I was eager to find something that could take the edge off. Not Pot’s CBD gummies seemed like an easy, accessible place to start. You may have several questions on your mind: how do they taste? Do they make you high? And do they actually get rid of anxiety? Allow me to share:
Not Pot CBD Gummies Ingredients
Each bottle contains 30 CBD gummies, and the serving size is one gummy. In each serving you get 10 mg of hemp extract, as well as 100 mg of L-theanine. L-theanine is an amino acid that is naturally found in green tea, and it is known to promote relaxation and calmness. The other ingredients in the gummies are as follows: Evaporated Cane Juice, Organic Tapioca Syrup, Purified Water, Pectin (from citrus), Citric Acid, Natural Flavor, Natural Color, Sodium Citrate, Organic Sunflower Oil.
As a note, I got these ingredients off of the bottle of watermelon gummies that I currently have and photographed for this post. From what I can tell on their website, they’ve since gone back to their regular bear-shaped gummies. I’m not sure if they used slightly different ingredients for these circular ones, but even so, I feel the changes would probably be minimal.
Not Pot’s gummies are vegan, use pigments from fruits and vegetables for color, and are cruelty free. They source their CBD from organic farms in Oregan, and each batch of gummies is third party tested to ensure there are zero solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, or synthetics.
In case you’ve wondered, CBD will not get you high the same way THC will. CBD is non-psychoactive, so you will not achieve any sort of high using CBD products. CBD is known to help reduce inflammation and anxiety, and it can also provide pain relief.
How I Use CBD Gummies
I take one gummy in the morning each day. I find it easy to remember them at this time, because I can take it with my daily vitamins. When I have a period coming, I’m sure to take one a day for at least five days leading up to my period.
Do They Taste Good?
Thus far I’ve tried the pineapple, strawberry, and watermelon flavors of Not Pot’s gummies. They all have been delicious, and honestly, it’s like eating a piece of candy in the morning. I’ve tried two other brands of CBD gummies, and neither of them have matched the taste of the Not Pot gummies. Hemp extract tends to naturally have a bitter aftertaste, and with the other two brands I tried, this aftertaste was much stronger. While there is a slight aftertaste with the Not Pot gummies, it’s not unpleasant. I just move on to eating something else after, and the taste goes away.
I find that regular, everyday use is generally best for me. For some people, you might only want to take them on certain days if you’re experiencing extra anxiety or pain, and that’s fine too. It’s a matter of finding what works best for you!
How Does CBD Help Me?
The following is a strictly personal account of how CBD helps me in day-to-day life. How it might affect you could be completely different, so bear in mind that this is just my personal experience!
Anxiety
That being said, I do feel that Not Pot’s CBD gummies help take the edge off my anxiety. I’ve actually started two new jobs while using these, and what would normally have been a stressful, anxiety-ridden experience was much more manageable. I think “chill” would be the best word to describe how I feel when I take a CBD gummy. I’m able to go with the flow much easier, and little things don’t get me as worked up. I do still sometimes have those moments of strong anxiety (generally circumstantial) that can’t be tamped down by the CBD. I find that these are rarer, though, when I’m regularly taking the gummies.
Period Pain
One unexpected, but entirely welcome benefit of taking CBD is that my unpleasant period symptoms have lessened significantly.
I have a tendency to get extremely sick at the start of my periods. And by that I mean I get nauseated, throw up, get severe cramps, become dizzy, break out in a cold sweat, have diarrhea….yeah, it’s absolutely nightmarish. I was constantly living in fear that my period would come on a workday and that I would experience one of those terrible bouts of sickness at work. There have been numerous occasions that I’ve had to excuse myself and leave my shifts early because I was so sick.
I’ve found that when I take CBD gummies daily for at least 5-7 days before my period, the majority of those severe symptoms go away. I will still experience some cramping and back pain, but those are generally minimized with some ibuprofen.
The freedom of not having to fear extreme sickness has been incredibly liberating. Initially, I was just taking CBD for anxiety. It wasn’t until I did research later about CBD and periods that I realized it could be helpful in alleviating period pain. I have yet to try them, but there are actually CBD patches that you can buy to help deal with cramps! Fun stuff, eh?
Wrapping Up
Not Pot’s CBD gummies were an unexpected winner for me. I had no idea what to anticipate when I started using them, but I’ve been so happy with how they’ve worked for me.
CBD gummies are something of an investment, IMO. Not Pot’s gummies sell for $39.99 (pretty much $40) for a bottle of 30 gummies. If you’re going through a bottle of these a month, over a year’s time you’ll spend $480. That’s no small amount of money. Because my budget has fluctuated over the past year or so, I haven’t been regular in my purchases. Because of that, I tend to save them for the week leading up to my period so that I can at least have some relief around that time. If you want to use your gummies specifically for period pain, that is a good way to help them last longer.
I’m more inclined to buy CBD gummies from Not Pot as compared to other brands because I appreciate the company’s initiatives. Not Pot is in full support of cannabis legalization, and they acknowledge that the war on drugs has hit people in marginalized communities the hardest. They partner with The Bail Project, a non-profit that assists people stuck in jail merely because they can’t make bail. Not Pot puts their profits toward paying for someone’s bail each month.
If you’ve been considering trying CBD gummies but weren’t sure where to start, Not Pot is a great place to begin your journey. They have delicious, effective gummies and a fantastic mission. To read more about the company and see what flavors they have available now, go here.
