When VIIcode contacted me about trying their oxygen eye masks, I was intrigued and excited to find out more. I had never seen any other eye masks that could be worn the entire night while I slept. I was envisioning waking up with eye masks halfway down my cheeks! Oftentimes eye masks have a tendency to make their way down my face compelled merely by gravity. Would these masks stay in place on me, a dedicated side sleeper? And on top of that, would they be able to deliver effective results?
Ingredients
Here’s a quick rundown of the ingredients:
Aqua, Glycerin, Cellulose, Carbomer, Mentha Arvensis, Butylene Glycol, Cellulose Gum, Tetrasodium EDTA, Triethanol Amine, Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil, Allantoin, Tartaric Acid, Sodium Hyaluronate, Vitamin E, Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate, Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract, Lavandula Angustifolia, Aloe Barbadensis, Algin, CO-Q10, Sodium PCA, PEG-40, Betula Alba Extract, Glycyrrhetinic Acid, Sorbitol,γ-PGA, Citric Acid, Butylparaben, Isobutylparaben, Propylparaben, Ethylbisiminomethylguaiacol Manganese Chloride
A few key ingredients that VIIcode emphasizes are Vitis Vinifera Seed Oil (Grapeseed Oil), Algin (Seaweed), and Camellia Sinensis (White Tea) Leaf Extract. Grapeseed oil contains vitamins and fatty acids, as well as a particularly potent ingredient called OPC. OPC is a strong antioxidant that helps fight free radicals, as well as support collagen production in the skin.
Seaweed is an antioxidant ingredient that also helps thicken products. It assists in restoring hydration to the skin, which in turn reduces the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
White tea leaf extract is another antioxidant-rich ingredient that helps reduce oxidative stress on our skin. Because they are processed the least, white and green tea contain the highest content of antioxidant flavenoids compared to other teas.
Usage
In each package, there are six sets of eye masks, and you can use them 2-3 times a week. They are meant to be worn 6-8 hours overnight so that you wake up with bright, refreshed under eyes in the morning.
To make sure they adhered properly, I used just my hydrating toner and essence before applying the masks. Then I worked around them and finished the rest of my skincare routine. They stuck to my face well, and despite the fact that they are fairly thick, they sat flush against my skin.
And then, the greatest test: sticking to my face despite my regular side sleeping. And wonderful news…. they passed with flying colors! They felt cool and comfortable, and it was a luxurious feeling wearing eye masks to bed at night.
Results
A quick note, VIIcode sent me their oxygen eye masks that are specifically formulated for dark circles, because this girl has some serious under eye shadows. Like, always.
I don’t expect complete eradication of my dark circles, because they are mainly genetic. But they do respond to brightening products, and when they are well hydrated and moisturized they look less visible.
When I removed the eye masks in the morning, my under eye area looked plumped and brightened, and it stayed that way the rest of the day. I was extremely happy with the youthful, well-rested look they gave me. VIIcode does recommend that you use a course of three treatments (three boxes) to see the greatest results. I can’t speak to any long term results, but I’ve found that the immediate results are satisfying.
In all, I very much so enjoyed these masks! It’s a fun experience to leave them on overnight, and it’s an easy way to achieve bright, refreshed-looking under eyes. You can find them on Amazon for $54 per box. Realistically speaking, there aren’t any miracle products out there that will completely change your under eyes, but taking good care of this delicate area will be helpful in the long run.
